Help, I punctured something

I removed the lower part of my front bumper to install my tranns cooler. I drilled two holes to attach a bracket and I ended up puncturing that "wanna be radiator." What the heck is it, looks like a radiator but it is actually infront of the radiator? Nothing is coming out of it. What happens if I drive with it punctured?

RE: Help, I punctured something

It sounds like you drilled through the air conditioning condenser.

If you did, your air conditioner won't work anymore.

If it's the condenser, it won't effect the engine but, you'll need to replace it before it causes more problems with your air conditioning system.

RE: Help, I punctured something

Yes, the a/c condensor. I did a quick search and found some for $180.
Since this deals with the a/c should I leave this to a professional. Doesn't seem too difficult to replace. I only see two lines that need to be disconnected, but the disconnection seenms tricky. Anyone replace their condensor before?

RE: Help, I punctured something

It probably already leaked out. I don't think it's too toxic but I wouldn't want to breathe it in though.

It's not that difficult to change. You'll need to buy the tools to release the quick connectors, they're cheap.

Once you replace the condenser you'll need to take the car to a shop that does AC work to have the system vacuumed out and recharged with refrigerant.

RE: Help, I punctured something

I also posted this on the TCCOA forums. One of the guys there said that on his t-bird the last row was not functional, so I might have dodged a bullet. The system did not hiss when it was punctured And the a/c works just like before. They guys on the TCCOA said it seems like I have nothing to worry about. I'll keep you guys up to date. I hope its okay so my mod schedule can go as planned, Meziere electric pump:9

RE: Help, I punctured something

If you want a meziere I have a new one sitting in my garage that I may let go for a good price.

Glad to hear that it's not leaking.

I had no idea that you could drill a hole into the condenser and it wouldn't leak.

Now, where's my drill?..:)
