Hi everyone I'm looking for a Mark VIII. Its always been one of my "one day " cars

Now my problem i only have about $1500 to spend which I know isn't gonna get me a super mark unless the planets alighn and i just get damn lucky I'm lookin at these 2 marks one's a 1996 http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ctd/817316950.html plus's on the 96 tint and sunroof.
then there's a 1995 http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...oors=&transmission=&max_price=2000&cardist=42 this one has 143000 miles and the big plus on this one is the price.
Which one would u be more likely to go look at if i do what should i be lookin for (I read the faq) but would like some personal input

If you are a DIY -- Your best deal may be the Auto Trader car. Both cars are going to need standard repairs (air bags, brakes, etc.) Some of this MIGHT have already been done on the 96, since it is at a wholesaler and the price is firm, but who knows?

Having had a 95 before this previous car which is a 98.. I would suggest either a 97 or 98 based on the obd2 nature of the 96-98 cars.

I wouldn't get a 96, as many of the unique 96 parts are unavailable any longer, like the VCRM....

If you are ever going to explore a tuning solution for the car, you will be much better off with an OBD2 car versus an EEC IV 93-95.

I used to be a "first gen" ONLY guy, until I started tuning it with the sct software and quickly realized there was no effective way to "datalog" an EEC IV car.

hope this helps

Get the fastest one?

LOL, seriously it should be obvious which of the two is better maintained - that is the prominent criteria.

95s have had valve train issues. I would stay away... 96 also got some minor transmission improvements...
Man these cars got cheap :(

thanks for the reply's guy's I acutally have someone who lives near there going to look at the 96 tomorrow. I have told him most of the stuff to look at .

I would love to have a 97 or 98 but they are out of my price range right at this moment .

Looking more for a dd not a race car, just sold a 89 honda civic and being 6'6 285 i want to find a bigger comfortable car that would be dependable and still get decent mileage on the highway (I drive 65 miles roundtrip every day). i'm looking for one of 3 cars Mark viii, Cougar,Thunderbird. With the Mark Viii being on top of my list. Hope To get someone that i work with to look at the 95 tomorrow also . I will post what they tell me

I paid 2500.00 for my 98 LSC, they are out there..just have to look and be patient.

Keep us posted as to what car you get...and welcome to the board

My friend has a 98 Black LSC that he wants 1500 or so for, it needs some work but it runs and drives.

Email me - blacklsc(at)gmail.com if interested, he is located in jersey.

Get a 0 down loan from Capitol One. The minimum is $7500, but you can pay the seller $7500 and have him cut you a check for the difference. Then you'll have 6-7K dollars to use for repairs (or anything else you want), and a measily $125 a month car payment over five years...or ~$175 over three.

Or you can spring for a more expensive Mark and save yourself the repair hassles.

Yeah, I was looking for a daily driver too, and look what happened to me?

A Mark VIII is far superior to the Tbird or Cougar, sad to say. The car you want is out there, just keep your eyes open.

Yea i would go with the white one. Just take care of her. Btw, the add says the car has heated seats...... no. only 97-98 models do.
