Help me with my next car decision

Well I have been looking for a 2nd Gen Mark VIII LSC to trade my 2004 Focus SVT in on. I cannot seem to find one. Either they are sold before I can get to them, they want 3000 down, or they just don't want to help me find one. I am getting frustrated very quickly. I am tooling with the idea of scrapping the Mark VIII idea and getting a 1997-1999 Mustang Cobra Convertible. What are your thoughts. I really am confused as to what I want to do. I do know that I want a 4.L 4v and Rear Wheel Drive. I also like the Idea of a Manual Trans again. But, I also love a big car and luxury. Help.

Confused in Ohio LOL!

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Well, after having a 94 Mark VIII I decided to trade for a 96 Mustang. Not a Cobra. I swear, the suspension acts like it is bolted right to your butt. You can drive over a dime and tell if it was heads or tails. And the road noise you wont believe. After a few months, I went back to a Mark. Only way I would own a mustang again is as a second vehicle.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Skip the mustang. A mark is the only way to go.

You'll find one sooner or later.

Whiplash said it best. ;)

Want to quickly make up your mind? Take a 500 mile trip in each one.

My '02 F250 work truck is my daily driver. I travel to/fro the mid west frequently on a 500-600 mile one way trip. Last month, I had the opportunity to take the "old" '93 Mark VIII to WFC in St. Louis. Usually, by the time I arrive in my pickup, I'm beat. With the Mark VIII, It was a much more relaxing trip. I could've went another 4 hours or more in comparison to the truck.

Very true. Even Brad says the Mark is the most comfortable highway car he's ever been in. Wait a bit, it will be worth it ;)

RE: Help me with my next car decision

I concur. After driving the Mark, it's really hard to get back in a tiny little Mustang. It's fun on certain occasions, but it's not something I'd take for a long trip or when I'm stuck in traffic.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Thank you all for your response. I am going to hold out for a 2nd Gen Mark VIII LSC. The Mustang idea was thought up in despiration. I was just feeling let down that I could not find a good used Mark VIII. Seems like a year ago or so when I was not looking for one they were for sale everywhere. Now, that I am in the market for one, they are no where to be seen. I have never really liked the idea of a Mustang for the reason that everyone has one. They are so previlant here in Ohio and all over the USA. The Mark VIII on the other hand is not so previlant and is a much better car in all around quality. I will cross my fingers as the search continues, so the prodigal son will return it is just a question as of to when.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Nice but, Number 1 it is not an LSC. And, number 2 it is in Texas. I cannot drive my trade to Texas. But a nice find none the less. I had one I found outside the Detroit Michigan area, with just a few more miles than that one. It however had a bad carfax report of an accident so that killed that thought. Thanks for trying to help though.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Yep Leo nailed it. Number 3 is it is a mess. Leo I would love to take Moose to Ohio, but finances are not that good. I understand why you want the price you want, but it is too rich for my blood. I also know why moose wants to live in Ohio with me. I treat my cars better than myself. Even if I sold the SVT outright, I still could not afford to buy Moose. I sure wish I could though.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Well I went to look at a TRed 98 LSC yesterday that was somewhat near my home. The pictures online looked great, but in person it was a different story. I started walking across the lot to the car and could immediatly pick out some major flaws. The rear bumper was chiped badly and spiderwebbed everywhere. As I walk to the front I see more chipping on the grill and frt bumper not to mention the most yellowed second gen headlights ever. I have seen cars for sale with 168000 miles that look better than this one. Immediatly a salesman comes out and says "can I help you?". My reaction is as follows: "Not today there is too much damage on that car!" He states "well it is 10 years old", to this I just walk away and drive off. Yep 8 years old not 10 and drove hard and put away wet too. Oh well the search is still on. Thanks for listening to my disappointment.

Patience has never been one of my virtues. I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now! to quote a song. Oh well something will come up.

Sounds like my husband! :+

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Well, I may go take a look at a 97 LSC tommorrow after work. It is Red with a light graphite interior. Heated Seats, moonroof, the works. Only bad things are centercaps missing "easy fix", and the ash tray lid is broken. I think I can rig something up for the ashtray lid, as I will not be using the ash tray. The car looks fairly good in the pics, but we shall see. It has 95k on the odometer, but seems it was many highway. Cross your fingers.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Thanks Leo, I knew I could count on you. I just hope that this one is good and happens.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

RE: Help me with my next car decision

Well this one was bad too. Small ammount of spider webbing on back bumper but the kicker was the slammed front end. Bad air shocks. Oh well back to the search.

RE: Help me with my next car decision

I keep checking in our good local Auto Trader for you every week, but only 1 car shows up. A '97 LSC with 138K
