Here's a weird one...

1997 LSC, 78K miles, stock except for Superchip (installed by previous owner). Driving along when check traction control light comes on, followed by both speedo and tach going to zero, gear shift indicator lights go out, Gear Shift Indictor error light comes on, and the car feels like it has a 4K stall converter. It kept going, but reving like crazy and smelling really bad (rotten egg converter smell). Shut car off (while doing 60mph, not a good feeling), restarted, all was well. No problems for a month, then it happens again, this time in addition to all the fun listed above, it also felt like the brakes had been applied slightly, which they hadn't. Shut off, re-start, no change. Did this twice more and it finally worked, acted like nothing ever happened. Battery died suddenly 2 months ago (ORIGINAL battery, I couldn't believe it!), replaced with a new one, charging system checked out fine otherwise. All is fine again, until two days ago, when it started happening again, same symptoms, shut off, restart once or twice, and all is good again. I'm thinking ABS wheel sensors, or shift indictor module.

Then, and here's the REALLY weird one, it happened while I warming the car up, in Park. Suddenly engine starts stuttering and stinking, lights come on, the works. At idle, in *park*. So now I'm not sure what it could be. Borrowed a code reader and it said no codes could be found. Any thoughts?
