From what I understand from reading the new issue of [link:motortrend.com/toc/thismonth/|Motor Trend,] they'll be dropping Cobra from the name and adding Shelby GT500, but if you read the [link:media.ford.com/products/presskit_display.cfm?vehicle_id=1269&press_subsection_id=421&make_id=92|Official Ford Press Release,] it appears that it will still have the Cobra name.

I saw a prototype for a '06 Cobra that actually looked like an AC Cobra and had 600 HP.

Maybe they're getting serious about the prototype and didn't want the Mustang with the name.
