Been lurking around here for some time. Finally decided to register.

I have two Mark VIIIs.
- 95 Willow on Willow - 60K miles
- 98 LSC Ivory on Ivory - 90K miles

Both of them had to have the complete suspension rebuilt, front and back. While I was in there I put in traction loc 3.31:1 gears and new one-piece drive shafts. The 95 also got a new tranny.

I have to say, the 3.31 gear is the perfect gear. I was tired of going down the freeway at 1700 RPM in my 95!! I only swapped the LSC because I had a pair of 3.31 Mustang take-offs with less than 100 miles each laying around.

Not sure I have the patience for two of these much longer. Suspension replacement was not fun. I noticed I have a bad blend door on the 98 on a long trip recently. Looks like the 98 will have to go. Pretty sad to have so much go wrong with $40K cars with less than 100K miles!! At least I got them at a good price.

I have to put the tranny in the 95 soon. Maybe I will drop the k-member and put in a set of kooks with duals.

Yep these cars have quite a few quirks... but so do most other cars. I have fixed plenty of things on my vette and it only has 35k miles on it now.

Welcome either way.

Welcome!

You want to get rid of the 98 because of a simple blend door issue?:D

I want to get rid of one of these because chasing gremlins in two of these is too much. The 98 is picked because I like the looks of the Gen1. The blend door is the straw that broke the camel's back. I have the 98 in Cali where I do not have access to a garage and refuse to pay $600+ to repair a design flaw.

Welcome! :)

Owning two Mark VIIIs ensures you have one to drive while you work on the other one. LOL :D

Weird though, I never heard of anyone with 3.31 gears? I thought the 8.8 Ford rear ends had 2.73, 3.08, 3.27, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30 and 4.56 gear ratios. Maybe you have 3.27s?

2005-2008 Mustang GTs came with standard with 3.31 gears. Google 2008 Mustang GT 3.31 and you will find many links that show the gear. I was surprised as well.
