Hold the Phone!

Hi Folks;
Haven't been here to visit for a while, but as they say, "life happens while you are making other plans".

I have recently found out that we have a local cell phone providor that accepts "analog" cell phones.

My phone has been locked up with a special code that was placed there by the dealer or the original owner. The second owner couldn't use the phone because of the same reason. Is there any way that folks here know of to clear the Lock Code, and reprogram the phone for my use.

I called the factory customer service number and they were baffled that the car still ran. I joke, they were at a total loss of what to do.

Thanks for your responses.
Peace.

RE: Hold the Phone!

How much do they charge for service? Most people have reported that the only analog service they get is way too expensive.

I'm sure there's a simple procedure to unlock the cell phone, but i don't know it.

Here's what alldata has to say (minus some formatting and a picture). It says the default security code is all zeros and the default unlock code is 123

NOTE: Once the customer enters a user security code you will need to use the user security code in place of the zeroes as follows: 0 + security code + security code, to enter the programming mode. (If the user security code is 123456, enter: FCN + 0123456123456 + RCL.)

RE: Hold the Phone!

Thanks Sleeper;
The name of the company is Valley Telecom Group. It is a cooperative of three small companies, serving Southeast Arizona. They have different packages but the starter and most common package is a very simple $19.95 for 100 free minutes that cover the whole state of Arizona with no roaming charges and no other charges. Pretty simple and straight forward. Their highest package is 6000 minutes/mo. and a charge of $279.95. There is no additional charge for analog coverage.

RE: Hold the Phone!

Hey Moffie check these links:
http://www.cellphonehacks.com
Search for your phone and then either find a link to a free online unlocking service or post your phone's details and someone will post the unlock code for your phone.

This is something the companies do to prevent you from leaving their service. They can not prevent you from unlocking your phone and leaving them. It's not illegal to unlock your phone, you own it. That would be like buying a car and the manufacturer saying you can only drive on certain highways.
