The grounding straps that tie into the foil shield under the hood insulation are torn off on both sides of my '96 LSC. They were like this when I bought the car. Is the foil really necessary to shield the engine electronics? Or is it there to minimize the egress of RF radiation from the engine electronics? The pieces are intact, so I can bond them together (physically and electrically) if necessary.
Anybody with aftermarket hoods still using the factory hood insulation or some type of foil-backed DynaMat?
