How do I mount a fuel pressure sender

I'm running lean and am trying to add a fuel pressure gauge to my 95 so I can get the fuel pressure back to normal (already installed the adjustable regulator). I got a autometer gauge and sender from a guy off of a mustang forum, and it already includes a the brass banjo adaptor and a 45 degree bend.

Problem is, I don't think, even with the 45 degree bend, the sender will fit under the hood without touching. I can always replace the 45 with a 90, but there is still another issue. The sender has some mass to it, and its being attached to the fuel rail by some thing brass adaptors- I'm worried that the vibrations from the engine might weaken the brass and make the sender fall off, causing a bad fuel leak right on top of the hot engine.

Anybody have this issue or find another way or location to mount the sender?

I concur. That is exactly what I bought.

You can use it as AFPR guide. It is meant to adapt right to the schrader valve on the fuel rail. However I used a 1/16 NPT male x 1/8 NPT female brass reducer to mount the gauge.

Remove the schrader valve and screw the adapter and gauge right to the fuel rail. Use teflon tape to guard against leaks, and check for leaks after a short trial run.

Some may argue the accuracy of the gauge, but use it as a relative tool. Adjust the AFPR in small increments until no further performance gain is noted. I adjusted mine at the track, and occasionally will tweak the fuel pressue using the gauge as a reference.

What gauge are you using ? I mounted my electronic sender on the rail using a 1/8 to 1/16 adapter and a 90 deg elbow. The sender is tiny, and fits fine.

I'm using an electric autometer sender- its probably 2in long and 3/4 in at its widest point.

I am going to have to plumb the sender for my electronic one into the line somplace before the rail, with the Cobra intake i cannot install the electronic sensor on the 2nd Gen rail.

I used an electric guage from Autometer this way you can see under all loads real-time what is going on.
