How do you tell if your tranny is "bulletproof"

I got a used tranny from a guy that claimed it was built to stand 450ftlbs of torque (no this isn't a reinhart tranny). I don't have any reason to doubt this person- the tranny looks clean, fluid was nice and red, so it looks taken care of. But are there any easy ways of checking to see what the tranny is capable of taking?

put a crapload of power to it and see if it blows up?

There's a way to check to see if it has a mechanical diode one way clutch. Other than that, you pretty much have to take it apart. But if it's a stock 98 up, it should take 400 or 450 hp anyway, as long as you don't beat on it too hard.

By pulling the pan you can check on a couple of things.
Look for the higher pressure EPC solenoid, and then remove the VB to see if the 2.7" OD servo is installed.
