How low can you go on the tint?

Just wondering if anyone has done less than 20/15% on the passenger and the drivers window (any pics?). If you have done so did it cause any trouble with the police getting pulled over etc?
I want to get some fairly dark tint.
15% up front driver and passenger and 5% rear quarter and Rear windshield. Also places around my area are fairly expensive and some won't do it as low as i want it to be (any recomendations SF bay area?). I called around (10 places). And they want $225 and up. And there was only one place for under $200 i believe it was $168 for 32% up front and 6% in the back some kind of odd numbers they got.
Also if you have the tint, how is it holding up? All the places i've called have had lifetime warranty, but there are just too many cars out there with bubbling tint.

I had 5% on all the windows and 33% on the winshield.It was cool at the time.But too dark for me now.I'm either getting older or whtas cool is changing.LOL

I dont know the exact percentage, somewhere around 15%.... But the cops hassle me all the time. It was on there when I bought the car, but every time I get pulled over (thank god I talk myself out of tickets easily) they tell me about the damn tint.

The best thing to do is if you gt pulled over.Immediatley roll both windows down.

Yep legal limit is 70% (on the drivers and passenger sides) but that is ridiculous. Almoust like having no tint at all. I've heard that if you go down to 35% there are no probs here whatsoever. But i still want to go lower than that.

In MI, no tint is allowed on the front windows, except the top 4 inches. I had 35% on there, and i got a ticket and had to peel it. I went back and had 50% on there. The ticket doesn't cost anything if i peel it before i go to court, and the shop that did it will peel it and reapply it for free if i get a ticket, as long as it's no darker than 50%.

Around here, the only people that'll pull you over for tint are the state cops. I saw a guy get pulled over for tint by a state cop on a bike the other day, on the way back from carlisle. He was two cars ahead of me, and as i drove by, i had both windows down.

both my cars had 5% tint all the way around when I was stationed in SC.that's still illegal but the limit is like 20% out there cause of the sun and heat. and they don't have state inspection. now that I'm back in jersey my wife and I took the tint off the front windows of the durango so it would go trough inspection. I still have it on the mark. not to worried about inspcetion. I don't think I'll ever bring it there. someone know where I can get a sticker. hint hint.

20% all around on all 4 of my cars now and every car that I've owned since 1976. I've never even been pulled over for it, much less been given a ticket. The legal limit for the fronts is 28% here in Florida.

The guys at the window tinting shop say that my day is coming.

I always have the highest quality 3M tinting available, installed by a professional. I've never paid over $125, but I do admit to tipping $20 or more each time. I think that they lower their price knowing that they'll get it back as a tip. The going rate around here is $150- $225.

legal limit for NH is 35% all the way around, no tint on the windshield, no medical exceptions. Found that out the hard way...I didnt peel though, I just paid the ticket. Reason I got pulled over in the first place: I had replaced my one of my 3 dome lights with a red tint bulb so it didn't wreck my night vision if I turned it on at night (kinda like in an airplane). I had it turned on to change a CD. The cop didnt buy that and I got a $50 dollar ticket for impersonating an emergency vehicle and another $50 for tint that was too dark. Apparently it is just as bad... a$$ hole small town cops...

What is the whole premise to that law? Do the cops need to see in your car to see who is who?

I hhad 20% on the car and got 2 tickets in a year and a half. I just chalk it up to the expense of having tint. But in PA, the front windows have to be 70% or better and they can only give you up to 2 tickets. I was lucky and only got 1 each time, like $45 a pop too.

I had 5% "limo tint" all around on my first car. I got ticketed TWICE! The second time the cop pulled out some type of tool that actually measured the amount of tint, can you believe that? I never had to pay the tickets though. I took them both to court and was told to remove the illegal tint. It looked good at the time, but 5% is too dark in my old age...

kev, you should definately take that to court..total bull. Maxmk8, what color is your car? I just went with 35% Johnson Window Films Executive Line "neutral." The tint is 38% light transmission, so it's perfectly legal here in CT. This is an all metal film that has a very high reflective quality. On the car it looks very similar to the stock glass tints of some lexus and nissan suvs. At certain angles it looks like a mirror, but at other angles you can see completely through it. It also has alot of green and silver in it, so up against a silver or green car it looks wicked. Definately worth looking into, and if you call Johnson, one of their very nice representatives will send you a sample packet of the actual tints, at least two different lines, 3-4 different colors, and you can put them right up against your windows. Definately worth looking into.

my car is "white" or opal opalescent... in other words its somewhat like pearl and white combined.. pearl white. Thanks for the tips.
