If I went to a dealer and want the following services, what do you think it would cost??

Anyone with a dealership time book would be appreciated for the estimating. I'm thinking around $800-1200 w/ labor and parts.

Front/rear brake pads, resurface rear rotors, new front rotors, brake system flush
Transmission service (drop pan, drain TC, new filter, mercon V)
Cooling system service (flush/fill)
New rear tires ($90 each)
New battery

What do y'all think?

Any reason why you arent going to do it yourself.

Outside of the Tranny and the tires ( cost you the same anywhere)... I think you could save yourself a lot of money.

But then again , if you do not want to do the work, I can understand that too ... :)

$722.19 at Maplecrest. I checked. 10% discount for LODers is included. I checked, my Repair orders as I had all that done on my Mark 8 at one time or another.

Here's what I think

About $360 or so for all the parts you have listed.
$25 tire-shop labor for the mount and balance of the new tires on your rims that you carry in because you decided you don't want to have to trust anybody any more than you have to so you'll mount them on the car yourself. It got tiresome for me having to explain to the 'pros' how to lift a car, how to remove a center cap without scratching the hell out of the rim and then dropping the cap and watching it bounce off of the concrete and breaking it and having to buy me a new one, how to torque lug nuts and to keep the damn impact tools away from $600 a piece rims, how to line up the notches when re-installing the center cap so they don't destroy it...again...etc

A day's work.

Money saved - a lot - you can use some of it to buy any tools you might need if you don't already have them

The priceless part you ask? Knowing that your car was not pawed by countless strangers...most of whom couldn't care less about you or your car and are more worried about getting your car out, to get the next one in, than they are about making sure everything is getting the proper attention...it's all about sucking you into committing to the work, to get your money and then doing shoddy ass work and carelessly destroying other stuff in the process because they are playing beat the clock with the work they are doing on your car. Although there are the exceptional outfits where you don't see as much of this type problem but they are pretty rare in my experiences. I hope you know of a worthy place.

oops - I'm venting again.

RE: How much ya think this will this cost?

I did find a reputable dealer off flatratetech.com - they said they'd treat me right, and those people on that site I tend to believe more than an ad on TV for a dealer. I'd do it myself if I had two things: 1) a car buddy to help me out, even if it was just for commentary and drinking a beer or two 2) a bigger garage. My garage is soooo small it's unbelievable. If I still lived in Iowa I'd do it ALL myself (minus putting the tires on).

I do like the idea of bringing in the rims though.

Thanks, all!
