I learned to drive stick on the way back from Miami on Monday after buying a 2002 WRX.

I have my 98 Mark VIII for sale both here and on ebay and hopefully it will be gone soon. It seems a lot of us have acquired new cars and many regulars have left the site. I hope the site continues as its a lot better than the ******* other forum.

Best of luck with the bug-eyed Scubie. I miss my Mark since trading it in 6.5 years ago, and I'm on my 2nd vehicle since. And I still lurk around. Hell, I never met anyone in this club until a few years after trading in the Lincoln (with the exception of blk95lsc).

good luck with the new car and the sale of your mark, you will miss it.

After driving this WRX for a few days, that's very doubtful.

It also doesn't hurt that my suppliers sell a few parts for the WRX. As soon as I get some free money and figure out what tuner I should get I will get a front mount intercooler + piping, header, turbo back and electronic boost controller all at cost. Should bump up the power a bit, don't you think? Right now it has a catback and BOV (You're not supposed to put BOVs on this car as its a MAF car :/)

BAH! I have a BOV on my MS6 and it runs mint...just gotta find the right plug for your recirc hose. I used a rubber chair leg foot...set of 4 for a buck and change FTW! Can you get the Cobb Accessport for your WRX?

Yea I am not sure if I want the Cobb or the OS tuner. I am just getting started reading. It's a DD and while I think I'd really like tuning, reliability is important. Also right plug or not, you're still dropping metered air assuming the MS6 is a MAF car with the MAF preturbo.

Yeah it is MAF, pre-turbo. But ya know it still runs great, idles smooth, and pulls like a bastard. In fact I guarantee it will pull any stock Mark. :D I'll be getting the AP at some point plus a handful of other goodies. What have you got for a cat-back and BOV?

Yea I dunno dude... WRX is a whole different animal than the mark. But now you're driving the correct car for your demographic :p

One time this WRX was trying to keep up with me and pass me on the NJTP, you can tell he had work done and did he a god job of staying behind me. But when we caught up to traffic he could not stop and had to drive on to the shoulder lol

EDIT: i was in the Vette not the Mark, lol

Not sure who makes the cat back, I think it's a decent branded company because its not excessively loud. The BOV looks like a 50mm Chinese but I haven't taken it off yet to see. Obviously its going to idle fine with a BOV, the only problem a BOV causes is when you shift and it actually opens it dumps air.

Yea they can be made into quick cars, and AWD is awesome :)

They get pretty crappy gas mileage for the engine size though. STI averages worse than the vette while having 50+ less hp.

But overall I actually kinda considered getting one, I just can't get over who drives these day in and day out, and they are still pretty cheap on the inside.

dont drag race it. The AWD + eentsy clutch are a recipe for many "how do I______?" posts on your new WRX forum.

I test drove one a few years ago...actually, it was a STi packaged 2001 with MANY owner-mods, straight from Japan.

I assure you, when built right, they can out-handle anything most drivers have the gonads to throw at them.

Cool beans craig, i think the jap STIs have 2.0 vs 2.5 while maintaining the same HP. Pretty sweet since we didn't the STIs until 2004

exactly, Max...it was the small motor, pre-STi stuff. susp, intercooler, exhaust, all the fixins....wheels, and my GAWD were the tires sticky and the brakes enormous on this little shredder.

a road-course racing friend of mine was the salesman at Marin Sonnen VW and they had it on their lot. He took me for a test drive before handing me the reins...he's a very skilled driver, and owns a WRX, so he knew this car well.

I didnt buy it for two reasons...and one is the exact same reason I dont ride a motorcycle.

I would either kill, or be killed.

the other reason is, they wanted WAY too much for it. Granted, it was a better car than a brand new one...but it was almost the same price.

it was the right color too (WR BLUE)

1 month later, I bought my old 94 Mark VIII.

but what a ride a well-built WRX STi can be. But people who basically cant drive ducks to water, but think they have mad skillz, shouldnt be buying/driving them, or the EVO's

JDM STis were 2.0L per WRC displacement limits, as far as I know.

And I agree with BlackIceLSC....there should be qualifications met to own one of those. Written and driving tests, like with a bike. :p

With my Mark VIII I knew where its limits were. I could power slide it and drive it and I knew when the tires would make noise and just knew the car inside and out. This car has a limit so far beyond the Mark VIII that at the same turn going 10-15mph faster than past the limits of the Mark VIII its just grip. Its like it has no limit at all. There's nothing, the body feels tighter buy a ton, and there is just no drama to the car at all. Its mocking me. 60 around this curve when the sign said go 15? You're a bitch. A punk bitch. You should be doing 70 even though the Mark would break the rear loose at 55.

Stupid little tojo, taunting me.

I know it's heard to believe it's japanese, what with those round bug-eys.... ;)

What's it rockin for tires for now?
