I was driving my car today and everything was fine but 3 hours later I went to go to the store and my car was holding the shift to 4500 rpm and forth gear does not work.15 minute later,I went to start my car and the rpm went to 2000 rpm and stayed there.

AZ does not scan OBD1 .
Iam going to me friend shop tomorrow to get the code scan.

Edit: I got my MLPS changed last year.

RE: I need help!

I wouldn't rule out the MLPS, but I suspect the IACV may be the cause for the high idle?

RE: I need help!

First thing I said when you called was.. IAC valve.

More than likely you could have adjusted the TPS sensor, rather than replace it..
both adjusting and replacing are a total PITA..
but none the less.

TPS voltage should be between .9 and 1.0 at idle.

I have a little leak in my intake gasket where the first cylinder is at.

There is your "air leak" I was telling you about.

I've never heard of one of these intakes just "forming a leak"...
must have been doing that "all along"..

which would explain why your 02 sensors are "freaking out".

You should have been able to find that leak with the starting fluid.

RE: I need help!

>You should have been able to find that leak with the starting fluid.

Yes we did.One of the check engine code is too lean in bank one.

RE: I need help!

If he pulls the intake manifold off.. MAKE sure you change the heater hose that lives underneath it.

It goes from the firewall under the intake and into the back of the water pump, make sure you replace that while you've got the intake off.

RE: I need help!

>If he pulls the intake manifold off.

He is just going to replace the TPS.Me and Justin will replace the intake gasket later.

RE: I need help!

I got my car back but its not happy, when you start up the car and put it in gear it will die. ;(

RE: I need help!

Need to address that vacuum leak Glen...

Unmetered air entering into your engine isnt gonna make it very VERY unhappy.

Remember I was telling you that your sensors are telling the PCM goofy stuff?

Well.... it's just like Computer Programming.. G.I.G.O.
GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.

FIX.. the vacuum leak otherwise your car is NEVER going to be happy.

RE: I need help!

Running your car while allowing unmetered air into the combustion chamber is going to be BAD.

Since you {quote} "hit your speed limiter DAILY", your not doing your car any favors by running it in a manner like this.

WOT with a manifold leak can do many bad things, such as burn valves, melt holes in your pistons and or generally BLOW YOUR ENGINE UP.

"you've been warned"
