Completed mine on friday. i wish i would have done it 2 years ago when i bought the car pretty easy to install even for me.

a little messy but meh the ATF makes my hair glossy

RE: If you havent yet do the jmod

Should you Jmod a 98+ tranny. Ive started to read the article on it a few times but always get interrupted/distracted by something shiny. What ahve you noticed about it thats so awesome?

RE: If you havent yet do the jmod

no more crappy sloppy shifts

no more wating for the car to engage forward and reverse and i can now change my fluid without dumping it all over just pull the drain plug

it cost less than most parts for our cars and for a friday nights worth of work it will make truly enjoy driving the car instaed of cringing every time it shifts

its realy very simple to do

i like it more than my chip and i love my chip

Another option is a Baumann shift kit.

i belive the bauman kit is pretty much the same thing but more expensiive?

<< Big Fan of Trans-Go.. but seems to be a lot of JMod popularity too. I just bought a HD2 shipped for $59. Hard to beat that IMO for great chirp factor, and less planning/confusion. I read thru J-Mod a few times, but I still need step by step, no options etc. Do this, drill this, insert this piston, check this, use this gasket etc. That's critical to me if you plan on driving it home from the shop. Personally, I have nothing to contribute to transmissions, Pick your "battles", the MK8 is a playground.

The Baumann kit allows you to easily tailor your shifts...the JMOD is a simple method of improving the efficiency of the 4R70W based on its design flaws...a "correction" and improvement all in one.

I did my first of many JMOD's 3 years ago, and am a true believer in them. Not that the Baumann has any problems, but I prefer to stick with the engineer who designed the tranny's recommendation.

There are several internal "proofings" you can do as well, but the bottom line is this:

ALL 4R70W's can be "JMOD'ed"...93-present.

you will achieve cleaner, faster shifts with less "flare". The payoff is firmer shifts as well. Just keep in mind, you can go mild, or full-bore, depending on how firm you want them.

also, the more HP you make, the softer your JMOD's resulting shifts will be, so if you're doing a mild gear swap, and/or adding horsepower, a JMOD is a must...

RE: If you havent yet do the jmod

I dont have any "power adder" mods...stock motor, 98+ JMOD' trans, and the rest is for handling, comfort, and looks/sound

14.96 @ 95 mph is my best, with a 2.3X 60-foot time.

Since I already own a REAL drag car, I dont spend much on my Mark VIII to make it a 1320 ride... while I respect those that can get a 4000 lb sled into the 13's, to me it's a waste of cash to try to get a tank to fly. Dont get me wrong...these boys and girls know I am a speed addict...but knowing what I have owned and raced in the past, I for one wouldnt pour a dime in to my car to make it run the elusive 14.50(or better) time...But you can bet I love my Mark VIII more and more every time I drive it.

if I had the cash, I'd build a 11 second Mark VIII...but it wouldnt be streetable, that's for sure.

RE: If you havent yet do the jmod

If you have the Baumann kit and everything for the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator, that's all you need.
