I saw a Geo Prizm T-bone an Explorer right in front of me a few years ago and it nearly folded the Explorer in half, and at only 35 MPH.
Anything can happen.
 
My Navigator was just totaled by an Ion. I'd be very surprised if the Ion was totaled, based on the damage. Both cars drove away, but my truck needs 2 passenger doors, B pillar, C pillar, passenger seat, floors on the passenger side, quarter panel, and some frame work. She lost control on the highway at 90+ mph and put the corner of her car into my right rear door.

Anything can happen. But I did get nearly t-boned on the highway, and not only walked away, but drove the truck another 700 miles before turning it in.
