Well, yes. My back yard is 10 acres. I live out in the boonies. Which is why I needed the tower. No DSL, no cable.
Not tall enough to worry about. If it was >200 feet, I would have had to put lights on it.
I hope the service is good...
The service is great. They tell me I'll get faster upload times when the gas derrick is pulled down that is between my tower and their tower.
HAM? Hell, with that monster, he's probably doing work for SETI.

Nope. I'm just wanted INTERNET connectivity....
I've tried it. The two second latency will kill you. And they limit your upload/download speed, even though they say they will not.
I used Starband for years, because they were the only game in town (discounting dial up at a blinding 2400 baud!).
I wasn't off INTERNET cold turkey -- I had access at work. and when it got too bad over the weekends, I'd drive over the local Holiday Inn Express....and borrow their connection.

I like watching my new neighbors (who I hate) set up chairs in their front yard and use their laptops... lame...
Two seconds that's it? When they would limit my download speed it was taking 13 seconds to load their connection test page and when they weren't messing with my speed it was 4 seconds. The latency was 900 milliseconds which would not allow me to even connect to my games online. Heck, for that year you barely noticed me on here. I'm still paying for that crap!!
heh. my SSID reads "welcome to tixer.net." wide open. I see my neighbor's kids on it all the time. I'm not sure that they have a connection of their own.
As for the satellite, I feel your pain. I don't know how anyone can live with latency like that...
