In search of a rear emblem Garnet red ( I hope)

RE: In search of a rear emblem Garnet red ( I hope)

ebay....there is no "94" emblem... 93-96
they were ALL red/chrome, unless removed and custom painted.

dont even bother with a used one from a wrecking yard...buy a new one from the dealer, or on ebay.

L.M.S. sells them, FWIW.

or, since all the red is off it now, custom paint it yourself...getting the cover iff is the hardest part...you're ready to pain it... flames, red, black, whatever...make it your own.

I think he meant that the entire plastic emblem dissolved if I'm not mistaken.

The last I checked, it was a discontinued item. Maybe check with Max @ FiveStar Ford. It will be the entire emblem and frame - attached from the rear of the center light bar on the trunk lid.

Ebay finds on the rear emblems have lately been high priced N.O.S. items.

LMS sold/sells a vinyl 'cover' applique only that is meant to be affixed onto the OEM emblem.

exactly. and I think this is all he needs. I am sure the chrome didnt dissolve.

Stanley, I have a spare(I showed it to you) but it is "under construction" as we speak, so it wont work for ya.

But again, FWIW, the 'red' in your emblem, is NOT "garnet red" like your car... it is Lincoln Crest red.

Did you remove the frame and all from the light bar or just the 'lens' of the rear emblem?

I carefully pried mine out, then laid the flat back of it on sandpaper and sanded the red away leaving the silver inlay. Then I painted the backside with color-matching paint.

However, I sghould've let the paint cure longer. When I used 3M adhesive to reinstall the lens, if you look closely, the adhesive partially reacted with the fresh paint. But a few feet away it looks flawless. Much, much better than the often seen distressed and weathered red background of the original emblem.

I got a new one from Torrie at FPN about two years ago. It was $34.00
