Installation time to install a ballast?

I took my newly acquired ballast for the rear light on the trunk to a Ford dealer to install it. They had to keep my 98 Mark overnight - saying that there is a lot of splicing of wires to do. Can anyone tell me what is a reasonable amount of time it takes to install a ballast? I want to be prepared when and if I get shocked by the price they charge me. thanks in advance.

Oh, if everything goes right, about a half hour. I can only think of one possible splice to make tho... On the other hand, was there a rectangular plate attached to the ballest? If not, the plate is held to the ballest by rivets that are harder than sin and it takes me quite a while to drill them out. You need to be preparred to be shocked anyway - if you took it toa LMF dealer.
