Instructions for changing Oil adapter gasket?

My mark is leaking oil VERY badly. Probably more than 2 quarts a day. I want to change the oil filter adapter gasket but I don't know how to do it. I searched the archives, but couldn't find any detailed instructions.

The other problem is, that I live in northern NJ. The temperatre outside is well below freezing and I don't have a garage. Unfortunately, it seems that I have to change this now.

Any instructions or advice for making this job go as quickly as possible in 15 degree weather?

Can't help ya' as far as the cold goes but the task you have to do is relatively easy and pretty much explains itself as you do it.

Just be careful, make sure ALL gasketed ares are very well cleaned (I prefer Gumcutter 2+2 and a clean shop rag) and thats about it really.

also make sure that there is nto an extra gasket in there. Sometimes the oil filter gasket sticks on the adapter and does not come out with the filter. THen when you put the new filter on there that has a gasket on there it creates a problem.
