i cut the air peices on the side of my intake tube. i did not have time to epoxy so i tape it closed for now. when i put it back on the car started then died. ( at the same time i replaced mu plug wires, but i dont think that casues the car to dy) i took the tube off and put it back on car started. so i put it in drive and car dies when i give it gas. take tube off and on again start then dy, i start the car w/ out the tube started. i am thinking there is a air leak after the maf. what do ya think. no c.e. light and the last time i started the car i left the maf connection off and started only to fy when i gave it gas in drive.

RE: intake tube?

Are you absolutely sure you didnt suck in a piece of tape? Did you close off ALL of the holes? Did you reconnect all of the connections? (three) Take a close look in the throttle body for any foreign matter? By the way, you didnt try to clean the throttle body bores with any kind of solvent, did you?

RE: intake tube?

Thats rather odd... first off what you did most likely did nothing for the performance of the car.
Second I accidently left the MAF off when i changed my wires. Car started idled fine... but when i drove it... it started acting up. So i think you did something wrong when you put the tube back. And or something is wrong with your wires. Make sure you put the pipe on right and screw in the screw that holds it down tight. Is there a rubber gasket around the pipe?? Maybe that came loose. Use some higher quality tape... and make sure everything is covered. Check for plastic shavings.

RE: intake tube?

If it might be the wires i am going to change them just for kicks to see if its them. i am going to put some tape around the sensor i took out the intake tube, maybe their is air leaking thru there. i had working on car, i am the luckest guy to work on cars and it not work or something else go wrong........ill try again tonit

RE: intake tube?

Whatever you did to the intake tube or during your intake tube mod is what caused your probem. YOu are wasting your time and money looking for another cause to your problems.

RE: intake tube?

i new right away it was the tube, but i was just checking anything else if you saw the second post i ask if any one has an extra tube in the dallas area...i might get one from mastifo
