This type of behavior is actually very common among humans in general. When people suffer through a great catastrophy together they form a bond. A bond that they think nobody else can undertand. There are many cases of hostages from bank robberies and such getting married after the incident. These people have been known to divorce their partners and wed the other. There is a psychological term for this that seems to be slipping my mind right now. This behavior is wrong, but it does not surprise me at all.

I agree it is not surprising at all. What is surprising is that people don't understand the infatuation factor. Trust me, in one year, half of those relationships will be over as soon as things get "back to normal". That is where the trouble is. In the meantime, you have a family torn apart, kids without a full-time dad. Neglected, bitter wife. None of it good. And then the guy finally wakes up. Wham!

Yep, at some point they are going to realize that they only have one common bond and that you cant build a relationship on it.
