Well, today started out like any other day. Jumped in to the Mark VIII and headed to work. I got to my shop, and its a SLOW day. Whatever, so I head to get something to eat on lunch. The car started then died. It wouldnt stay running. I'm like "Damnit..." So I check the first thing that I knew it could be, the Upper intake to lower intake gaskets. I've been having a small vacuum leak there for years. So I took it apart, and sure enough the gaskets were GONE, allowing the engine to suck in way to much extra air. No problem I thought, untill I tried to find the gaskets. Ford said they were DISCONTINUED. Parts guy gave me the number to see if I could cross-reference it. Nope. No one makes it anymore, even in the engine gasket kit. So, being the head strong technician I am, and THANKFULLY being at work, with all of my tools... i began to try and make a gasket. Worked great, for about 10 minutes. The car barely made it home. Ugh. If it were any other gasket, I could make it no problem, but since this has to be relatively special, its going to be hard, or just swap in a Cobra intake. Has anyone else had any problems with the Oval (theres 2 of them) gaskets going from the Upper to Lower Intake?
