J-Mod Help - Drill bits.

I have been wanting to do this mod for a couple of weeks and have not been able to find drill bits in the sizes listed on the spec sheet.

Am I missing something here? When I ask for a bit that is .160" people look at me funny (not that I need to ask a question for this to happen). I know that you can buy these in the US at Sears. Can someone give me a product code so that I can order them from the web?

You would think that in a country that invented the Robertson screwdriver you could find these drill bits.

Don't ask them for .160", ask them for the wire gage #. That's your problem. Plus your average retail worker knows jack about what he's selling.

That should be all you need and more, but you can get the bits you need one at a time for cheaper than that. Just ask for them by number. And ask the oldest guy in the store.

Don't bother trying to find them at Home Depot or one of those other mega stores. They won't sell anything you can't shrink-wrap, hang on a hook, and sell eight hundred in a week. Go to a REAL hardware store like Ace or True Value (if there are any left). They'll have the sizes you need, and you can buy them individually. Not to mention that fact that the employees actually know what they're selling.

I was not able to find the correct drill bits at Sears I had to go to Ace hardware. I don't know what you have in canada but you should have something
