Jerry Mod Completed

I had the Jerry Mod done to my car last Friday. My mechanic did the work while I read off A-Train's instructions that I had printed from the TCCOA site. He thought that I was nuts to be drilling holes in the separator plate and leaving springs out of the accumulators in a Lincoln.

Some observations:

I could have done this on my own but I am lucky that my mechanic is a personal friend who is very good and also doesn't charge me the full shop charge. This would be a very messy job to do in your garage and working under jack stands would not be easy. Start to finish was 2 hours with a few minor interruptions.

Since the valve body was clean we did not remove the check ball’s, we just drained the old fluid by carefully tilting it. You should also look for a small screen filter to make sure it is not lost or misplaced.

Holes # 6&9 were already larger than was indicated for the 300-450 range. Make sure you double and triple check the hole locations before you drill.

Now for the big question, was it worth it? Yes. When driving normal the car shifts a bit firmer without the lag that it used to have. When I stomp on it the 1-2 is hard and solid, the TC has to be off or it will kick in. I have Michelin XGT V4's on the car and they handle the shift really well. The 2-3 is neck snapping and the 3-4 is solid.

I just have to find some money to increase the HP because now the tranny will handle it! Yeah, that sounds logical.

If anyone has any questions please let me know.

I like your train of thought!!!

I hate the way my '97 shifts and plan on doing this after another 20k miles when my warantee is up...
