jmod done...some thoughts

Well until now my mark viii has been a pleasure to work on. However the transmission fought me the whole way. My wife and I spent right at 7 hours doing the jmod. The 1-2 accumulator fought us, the 2-3 fought, the od definately fought. And the old filter decided to leave the gasket behind when it came out. Also the new deep sump aluminum trans pan was a killer. That pan fought me to the point that I was going to give up....then it just slid into place. xo ::wtf::

The results of the 350-400 hp jmod with the 1-2 lower spring in place are well worthe the sore muscles, 6 busted knuckles, and all the obscene words that were said. The shifts are quick, smooth, and crisp. At wot they are exactly the way they should have been since day one. I'd do it again tomorrow...or when all the soreness goes away.

If you're thinking of doing the jmod...don't hesitate, you'l love the results.

Perseverance is a rare quality. Glad to hear it worked out for you. :)

Thanks, I'm really glad that it worked out. I was a little worried about the OD. But I figured it out and kept on working. My neck and back hate me x( at the moment, but I'll get over it.:D

What did you do to the OD? I've only upgraded the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulators.

RE: jmod done...some thoughts

Replaced the od piston and pin. As I did with the reverse. But I was under the assumption that the od piston and pin in my car was the 2.5" and I bought the 2.7" to upgrade. However it came withe the 2.7" already....so I just changed it. Also the 1-2 piston and springs were in perfect condition as was the 2-3. But I feel safer now that the old ones are gone and the new ones are in place.
