There never was anything designed to provide remote boosting from the front of the car.
If the battery's too dead to run the trunk release, open the trunk with the key, lift the spare tire cover, and boost the battery directly.
There is a heavy positive cable junction at the passenger side of the "firewall". It is accessable if you remove the lower dashpanel under the glove box, remove the right kick panel, and peel the carpet back. I had to use it once on an accident recovery in which the rear of the car was too mangled to open the trunk.
If you do decide to go there, it's tight. Be very, very careful. Your positive booster cable can easily touch ground while you're boosting, and we all know what voltage spikes do to complex electronic components...
