Just a thought worth thinking....

I was watching a show today on the boob toob and there was a custom shop in So Cal that pimped this car out with Lamborghini doors. Original car doors with the Lambo door hinge assembly. WHAT IF....we could do this to our cars? I am giving it some serious thought. I know the doors are a shade heavy. But I think it would look real smooth with the length of these doors. The only drawbacks I see are the weight of the door and the wiring involved. I wonder if the door harnesses would be forgiving enough to handle the full sweep of the hinge without having to be lengthened.

I even gave some thought to T-tops. This car looks agressive enough for it, but I don't want a hooptie. I know the Lambo mod would be invisible while driving yet a real eye catcher when parked. Who thinks what about this idea? I want to be the first. }>

RE: Just a thought worth thinking....

If you can figure out how to make it work... I think pretty much anything would look cool with scissor or gullwing doors... Admittedly I hate to say that the weight of the door might be prohibiting.

good luck!

Well, I think you would be the first. At least the first anybody here has seen. You could probably shave some weight off of the doors if:
1) you could make the inside of the door out of fiberglass or something light
2) move the speakers to somewhere else
3) and maybe (though I don't think it would be worth it) you could remove the window motor, and put in a crank.

Hope you have a bunch of money, and/or skill, because all that is custom work that won't be too easy.

RE: Just a thought worth thinking....

Agreed, but I'm still looking into it. If I find it to be financially out of reach, I'll ditch it. Otherwise it might be worth it.

RE: Just a thought worth thinking....

They make Lambo door kits for Mustangs and they cost around $1400 from what I remember; so is it worth it? Not in my opinion.... As far as T-tops, they are cool but not on a Mark 8. Theses cars can be hot rodded out but are still supposed to look and be a luxo-sports car.

LAM. doors forget it , dont screw up something that is already nice and make it look like (edit), ttop i have thought bout even when i had my cougar, and if our cars are to be luxo. car then whats w/ the sunroofs then i think it would look sweet w/ ttops some one photochop one,

RE: Just a thought worth thinking....

A lot of luxo-coups have sunroofs. As far as the roof line goes, I think it would be cooler to do a 3" chop. Probably cost about the same as t-tops too.;)

RE: Just a thought worth thinking....

If you're going to go nuts, make it a pillarless coupe with a slight chop. That would look good. Way too much $$, but it would look good.
