Just an idea for potentiometer

Hey all, I was just thinking (I know, that's a bad thing:)) and came up with a suggestion for the potentiometer. Has anyone thought of taking one to a place that repairs guitar amps,or knows anyone personally that fixes them. I'm not sure about the idea, but may be a place to start.

I posted as request in another thread but I'll bring it up again here. I have a guy who specializes in steering column repair. He claims he might be able to repair or make the parts needed to repair the device. If anyone has one that they replaced and has the old broken one still then I'd like you to send it to me. If we can do the repairs we'll send it back fixed and this way we'll know if he will be able to repair others.

Since a potentiometer is an electrical part and it's located in the interior, I moved this to the electrical and interior section.

I don't have a potentiometer in my steering column but if I did, I would try to get some contact cleaner into it. I'm not sure if it's a linear or rotary potentiometer, but I would think that that would help in either case.

If that didn't work, I'd measure the resistance of the pot, and just wire in a rotary manual replacement just so I could get it to work until I could repair or replace the original.
