almost everyone knows me for what i do, i part out mark VIII's left and right, and although some dont agree with what i do, for every car i take apart , i keep 10 more going, so for those who dont agree, after reading that you might finally see my point, but lately, i havent been taking apart nearly as many as i used to, things are slow, we've gone from maybe 6 cars a month, down to 2 or 3, but i am more busy then ever, i have aquired a pretty awesome list of local customers with mark VIII's and have become the mark VIII mechanic, i have fixed them in the past, but i am not known for fixing them, but lately, i cant keep an open bay for any longer then a day, one leaves and another comes in, which is fine lol, im not complaining, i actually like the change, fixing instead or stripping. i never thought it would have ended up this way 7 years ago when i took my first mark VIII apart, actually, it was a pair of mark's, but regardless i'm enjoying the change of pace lately. the newest one in for repairs just got an entire front end rebuild tonight, a few days ago i put new plug wires and plugs in it, tomorrow its getting a trans flush and 1-2 accumulator, merc 5, and a list of other things. here are some pics of what i did tonight in my home away from home!

Jaime, you crack me up! You're right though - although it hurts to see a Mark torn apart, due to the lack of parts available, you are saving many others. How'd you start stripping anyway?

ok here it goes, i told the story a long time ago on another forum....

in 1999, my father in law purchased a 93 for himself. his friend had bought a 93 brand new and my father in law went for a ride in it, ever since that ride he said someday he would buy one, fast forward to 99, his buddy, who owned a collision shop called him one night, said he was on his way back from connecticut from the auction and was driving a 93 mark VIII, he knew my father in law had wanted one, so he said i dont know anything about this car other then its going down the highway great, so he says if you want it as is, $1,100 bucks its yours, that night we met steve at his shop with some flashlights and looked the car over, took it for a ride, paid the man cash for it, so my father in law starts to tinker with it in the next few weeks cleaning it up and fixing things that were wrong with it, well, he needed a few parts for it, he knew steve had two more at his body shop that were both is severe accidents, both totalled but still running, non driving. he asked steve to sell him some parts off them to fix the one he bought, but steve says i'll tell you what, you can have both of them for 600 bucks with titles, so pete bought both the cars and took what he needed, but there were a few things he coulsnt salvage from either one, so he jumped on ebay to look, and saw tons of parts listed for mark VIII's so he looked at me and said what do you think about taking both of those cars completely apart and see if we can get back the money it cost to buy them, i said sure i'll do it, so we tore them apart, listed the parts on ebay and low and behold 7 years later and some 500 + mark VIII's later and we're still doing it, we have a friend who is a dealer here who buys them at the auction for us, we also have another friend back up in mass who is tied in with the tampa salvage auction who can get them for us over the internet, they mail him the titles in mass and tow the cars over to our shop, and we also buy them private party any where we can, ebay, craigslist, or just find one driving down the road. its a fluke we stumbled upon 7 years ago and now its just totally out of control, the phone rings off the hook, and the emails come in so fast you can never get ahead of them. not bad for accidentally coming across it!! i never had a care in the world for the cars, and when we started i didnt even know what a mark VIII was till pete bought his 93. i never cared for them, until about 3 years ago i bought my first one, my 97 lsc. a year after pete bought the 93, we took it apart too and he bought a toreador red 97 lsc, and when i saw it, i hated it, i thought the new nose looked like doo doo. but over time i got used to it, then i loved it, and hated the gen 1. then i finally bought my first one in 2004, my 97, i loved it and them bought my wife a 93. i said if this is what i am going to do for work, i might as well own the car i take apart, that way if i need to fix it, i have the parts. then i tore my 97 apart to pay for my 98, i bought it for 6 grand cash all in 20's, then i sold my 93 to buy my wife another 93, her favorite color, deep jewel green with mocha interior, as long as i do this, i will own these cars, i love them so much now, i cant see myself in another car, i would love a marauder for a family car, but i would never give up my 98 for anything. i'm a total diehard mark VIII guy now through and through, and some day when i have jeremi's kind of money, i'll be joining the supercharged mark VIII club too, i have aome of the parts lined up already, like an eaton supercharger and fuel rails and injectors, but its a long way off still unless i happen to come across a miracle!! thats my story you can all wake up now!

:) i bought it for 6 grand cash all in 20's,

Haha Thats awesome. Makes it more official counting them all out. Theres something to be said about a pile of green that makes sellers not say no to your offer.
Great story and read. I told my buddie to contact you,he just bought a 93 and broke the drivers side window messing with the regulator.

Great story Jaimie :)!

I got into the whole Mark VIII thing by looking at an old magazine back in HS... and it showed a pic of a Mark VIII with an add stating 280hp..... my jaw just dropped :D.
