What should i do? I got the tranny rebuilt and had a Transgo shift kit installed. My shifts are drawn out and don't hit very good. My tranny guy said it could be the valve body getting old and not letting my shifts hit very hard. Is this true?

Where would I find a new or good valve body? Does Lonnie sell just valve bodies? Also I need a TC. What should I go with?

A valve body is a hunk of metal. They dont go "bad" really. Parts in it may, but generally even those hold up and if fail result in lost gears, etc.

If you do take the body down, check the check balls. I replaced mine with new and the new ones were a little larger. One had actually gotten embedded in the separator plate (yet no problems).

For the most part, Trans-Go shift kits do not have a good reputation in these transmissions.

Who did the work? That's where I would go to first. If the same guy that did the work is the one telling you that you need a new valve body, well... I would go elsewhere.

I'm not sure but I don't think the Trans-Go kit is reversible. You could get another valve body but I would seek professional advice at this time before you drive much further. If it's not shifting properly, chances are it's not engaging the clutches properly as well.

I do believe Blue Oval Chips has valvebodies and I know Lonnie has good TCs. I have a 3800 stall and like it very much.

You joined in 2006, you had 11 mark viiis, and you still didn't learn. Truely amazing, and I do mean it.

Get back to "your guy" ... have him fix the thing. Most likely he reused the pump as it were, without looking into it. Have him verify the pressure at test ports.

Just throwing parts at it is what is called hunt and peck or Easter egging. He either knows what is wrong with it or doesn't. If he doesn't he should be testing it to find the problem.

Trans Blow it up kits are one of the largest killers of the AODE and 4R70Ws. I've even had two let loose on the dyno before besides out road testing. They were installed correctly as far as I know. They make great AOD kits but they just ruin any of the computer controlled transmissions. You can not reverse or go back to factory with their kit either. This means a new valve body.

Some other insights, most transmission shops are not transmission specialist like everyone thinks. 95% of them are just installers. They can pull a trans out and swap it out with another one. There are then some more advanced that can actually tear one down and put it back together. Don't ask either of these to open up the valve body and put it back together though. They will look at you like your some kind or nut case. These shops will outsource all their valve bodies because they don't know how or want to know how to build them. I know this because I used to supply valve bodies for a couple shops. These same shops I couldn't tell you how many times that when they have one of my customers show up with one of my Stage what ever transmissions and it's got the upgrades for the electrical/sensor stuff they run as fast as they can telling the customer it won't work. Then I spend about 2 or so hours having to teach some transmission specialist how to install a late model trans in an early model vehicle......some specialist. About 2 out of every 5 transmissions I sell I run into this where the guy is pleading with me to help the transmission shop or they won't install it because it's not a factory reman. Then you have the back yard or room in the back of the shop type of guy that knows enough to get the job done but it isn't very pretty when he's done. That duct tape works wonders.

Yes I do sell valve bodies by the way http://www.blueovalchips.com/index.php?action=item&id=72&prevaction=category&previd=4&prevstart=0

Thanks, for all the input. Lonnie, I will be getting with you shortly on purchasing some stuff. Prolly vb, chip, tc... Soon as I get some money. Thanks, again for the help everyone!
