I mean it is amazing power coming out of that small of an engine and to throw it into a car such as a Mustang is great work IMO. It's a true custom in every sense. So what it has a Japanese motor instead of an American muscle motor. That is what a true custom/hot rod is all about.

Peee-yuke!! That is absolutely disgusting to a Ford "guy" like me. I hate the ricer crap to begin with, and then to do that xo
I find the drag strip tale hard to believe. If the crap motor was so great, why leave the V-8 in anything used in the "movie"??

I could see some justification in doing that in Japan where used motors are plentiful, since cars there are scrapped after 4 to 7 years. A car over seven years old is a rare sight in Japan due to their registration laws.

If a 430 cube small block in a 68 Mustang only turned 14.50, it obviously wasn't getting any traction to speak of. That didn't happen to get mentioned in the writeup. They said they used the v8 for the spinning sideways shots which make sense.
A lot of used cars from Japan are now being sold in Russia.

Many of you guys underestimate the power and smoothness delivery of Japanese engines.
They make better inline 6's, V6's, and 8 (for the luxury segment.
Check out the 3UZ-FE (latest version of the legendry 1UZ-FE V8) and Infiniti’s latest V8. True work of art.

I don't know about those Infiniti V8s, they seem to be overrated in terms of power, since a 340hp Q45 that is lighter than a LS430 with 290hp, yet it is slower. Plus I have heard that they like Oil a bit too much and many engines had to be replaced due to excessive oil consumption. I would much rather stick with the 4.3 from Toyota.

I'm sure the tranny has lot to do with that.
After installing an Eaton posi, 4.10 gears, high stall converter, and high performance tranny, you can easily drop more than a second from your 0-60 time in a Mark without touching the engine.
That's why when I help people shop for cars, I tell them to ignore power figures and just look at 0-60 times.

It's not about what I believe in, it's just a preference. I happen to agree with Leo on the yuck factor of the particular combination in his post. I love street rods, and it's very common to see GM powertrains/drivetrains in them, because it's cheaper. I get much more of a kick out of seeing the same make of engine/drive train combination in a car, because it's not as common. I wasn't trying to make anyone mad.
