RE: Keys stuck

You're computer probably doesn't think the car is in park. I'm not familiar with this type of problem at all, but maybe it's somthing like the MLPS?? Good luck.

RE: Keys stuck

the mlp sensor is new. just changed that a few months back and it is all lined up and everything. It might have something to do with the shifter. This problem only started happening, however my reverse lights don't go on when I put it in R. I have to hold the shifter in between P and R for them to come on. Kinda sucks cause just now My key broke off and half is still in the car. it still starts and shuts off.

RE: Keys stuck

It's definitely in the shifter somewhere. I don't know what is in there to adjust, but your car doesn't think you're in park so it's not letting you take the key out. I'd say don't try to force it, but it sounds like it's too late already.

RE: Keys stuck

I have the same problem occasionally. It rarely happens but every once in a while I'll put the car in Park and I can't turn the key all the way or remove it. If I fiddle with the shifter in and out of Park a couple of times then all is OK.

RE: Keys stuck

Mine does it all the time.

what I do is..
Turn of the ignition, then..push forward on the shifter, and I hear it go "CLICK".. then I KNOW the car is FULLY in PARK.

This didn't occur until one time that I ACCIDENTLY pushed the shifter to "park" while I was still moving ever so slightly forward {stupid... I KNOW.. I KNOW}

The car is so smooth that I thought I'd came to a complete stop, when I haddn't.

What I "THINK" is wrong is I bent the park pin or messed up the hole that the park pin seats into...

RE: Keys stuck

On my '94, the lock and cylinder seemed to somehow get loose from each other and the key and the "bat wings" or ears that normally line up with the key no longer stayed in line with each other. You had to put the key and the ears in line to remove and insert the key.

I finally replaced the lock and cylinder with a replacement from Autone. The price was only $12.99.

RE: Keys stuck

David (Dirty Old Man), has given you the best advice. The keyway becomes (loose) and needs to be replaced. It happens with most Ford products and is not unusual at all.
