VIII looking for 8s
I just did an LED conversion tonight on the 98. All of my bulbs are 5-smd 194s wedge base LEDs that I bought off of ebay for $10 for a 10-pack. So basically, 99 cents per bulb. I put a total of 6 bulbs in the car. 2 in the map lights, 2 down at the floor, and 2 up high in the side panels in the back seat.
A member over on another forum used these same bulbs for his conversion, but I ran into a problem with mine and I am still waiting for a response from him to find out if he had the same issues but the small two-wire setup at the base of the bulb made for VERY feisty connections with the bulbs. Here is what I am talking about:
Hopefully I don't have any issues with connections but I was fidgeting with them quite a bit to get them to work. The ones at the floor went in with no fidgeting.
I have not yet figured out what bulbs to use for the door panel courtesy lights yet because that is a different type of bulb. It's a 194 on the Gen1s but not on the Gen2s:
How do I go about figuring out which ones to use for the door panels? They list on ebay as festoon-based bulbs but have different measurements.
Here is what the bulb would look like:
