LILLNC Over 8K

LILNC had its first 7500 mile service. That's when its "Change Oil" message appeared. The service would have been free had I not insisted on a fully synthetic oil. They use a blend, normally. I paid 48 bucks for a fully synthetic oil.

The service guy did not reset the oil computer. It is not as simple as our Marks. You have to push INFO, then RESET, then wait for the oil message and then hold down RESET as the oil life remaining number goes up to 100%.

The little car is running great. We're now getting consistently over 25MPG, driving about 80 miles a day, 65 to 70MPH, to and from Fort Worth. We're putting about 14.5 hours on the motor each week.

The wife still bangs her head when she get in sometimes. The seats are much higher than the Lincolns. If you don't fold yourself carefully before getting in, you will whack the top of the door jam with your head. Excedrin Headache 2010.

HOTLNC and CREMPF are on light weekend duty. They sit mostly in the garage.

If the oil life program is based on organic oil and you went with 100% synthetic you could probably double the interval as along as you use a long life filter or go one year, what every comes first.

That semi synthetic stuff is good. I wouldn't have gone full synthetic unless required by the engine. Man that car is neeeeeew!

The next oil change, I'm taking a sample of the oil to Blackstone Laboratories for analysis.

They (Ford) will not let me do anything contrary to the service interval -- or change the oil and filter myself, for that matter, if I want to keep the forever drive train warranty in force.

Well, HOTLNC is still going strong for over 280K with zero engine part failures. I attribute that to 100% Synthetic (Mobil 1).

I guess I shouldn't worry about what oil Ford puts into the motor, since it is their motor for as long as I own it.

But a good machine deserves better than a blend.
