This makes the 3rd year I've attended this event, the SC/XR7 Shootout in Xenia, OH. A lot of nice cars, nice people and a good track day. :D

My Mark VIII was the only Lincoln in attendance, but that didn't dampen my enthusiasm. After the car show and dyno day, the group ran at the Kilkare Raceway. While most were Thunderbird SuperCoupes in 5 different classes, there were 5 other classes which included an open bracket class.

I managed 13 runs prior to the start of qualifying and eliminations. The fastest being a 13.53 @ 100.2 mph.

R/T: 0.6649(0.500 tree)
60 ft: 1.923
330 ft: 5.5971
1/8th: 8.6409 @ 81.09
1/4: 13.5351 @ 100.21

The car ran fairly consistant in the 13.6s and when the first round of eliminations came, I dialed a 13.65.

Car #: 53(Tbird) / 15(Mark VIII)
Dial: 15.80 / 13.65
R/T: .5699 / .6889
60 ft: 2.3479 / 1.9502
330 ft: 6.7079 / 5.6469
1/8th: 9.5711 / 8.1719
mph: 71.1 / 79.34
1/4: 15.819 / 13.7051
MPH: 86.71 / 99.09

The reaction time was among my worst of the day and eliminated me from competition in the first round.

The good news was that out of 15 runs I won the fastest NA V8 award and took home $100 for my efforts.

Pics from the event can be found at my photo albums.

A bad day at the track is far better than a good day at the office.

Hey, you "went"..that's a plus

and, you cant be too mad about getting paid for a round 1 loss!

wish I coulda been there.

Didja try "bumping into the beams" once or twice?

your oppoenets .069 light and running .019 of dial was a fairy tight package as well.

from the numbers it looks like you were about 1/3 or 1/2 a car back at the stripe?

"A bad day at the track is far better than a good day at the office." :) - I like that.

Yeah, gettin' paid despite losing round one is a huge bonus. Almost felt guilty. :D

Oh yeah, I tried during test and tune runs - no red light - I felt good. Then I purposedly went deep into th ebeams just to see how far it would take to red light. I found it with a 0.490 light. I felt better. Then I go and pull a stunt like the reaction time I lost with. Argghhh.

Yeah a pretty tight package - 0.0889. I knew the reaction time was a bit off and by the 1/8th mile marker I knew I would not catch him.

MOV was 0.1551 seconds, so that makes the distance at the stripe about 22-23 feet. I don't think I ever caught his back bumper by the beams.

I've won and lost by a far, far closer margin of victory. I almost hate it being the 'quick car' - having to sit at the light for what seems like an eternity - two seconds!

Btw, JP, I just looked at your pictures, and I see my friend Will from Super Rod Magazine was at the event with his Tbird. :) I think he goes every year. You got a picture of him, and his car in your photo album. Small world... :)

Yeah, Will's an all-around good guy. I didn't get a chance to chat with him this year but I doubt he remembered me from last year anyways. lol

Bill from SCP was on hand as well as Alan from DirtyDog Performance. I did get to chat with them as well as a couple guys from the Precision Motorsports shop.

You should know by now Mike, the 'non-mustang' Ford performance world is a small world indeed. ;)
