Little black chime box? What else?

What else does that little black box with the chime in it control? I think I shorted mine and will need to be replacing it if it's more than just a chime. ;) I suspect it controls the vent motor that moves the air flow to the vent/floor? If anyone can tell me what it is and perhaps a part number.. thanks!

Chad, the chime is simply an output and does not have comtrol over anything. This from the manual:
-------------------
Warning Chime

How The Circuit Works

Seat Belt Warning

When the Ignition Switch is turned to RUN, power is supplied through circuit 16 (R/LG) to the Warning Chime Module, which then supplies power through circuit 450 (DG/LG) to illuminate the Fasten Belts Indicator for six seconds, whether or not the driver's seat belt is fastened. If the driver's seat belt is NOT fastened during this time, the seat belt buckle remains closed, and ground is supplied from the Driver's Seat Belt Switch through circuit 85 (BR/LB) to the Warning Chime Module, causing it to sound for six seconds.

Key-in-Ignition Warning
The warning chime sounds when the driver's door is open and the key is in the Ignition Switch, and continues to sound until the key is removed or the door is closed.

Ignition Key Warning Switch
When the key is in the ignition, the Key Warning Switch is closed and ground is supplied to the Warning Chime Module through circuit 158 (BK/PK). When the driver's door is open, the Left Front Door Jamb Switch is closed and power is supplied through circuit 159 (R/PK) to the Module.

Headlamps-On Warning
The warning chime sounds when the Main Light Switch is in PARK or HEAD and the driver's door is open, and continues to sound until the switch is moved to OFF or the door is closed.

With the Main Light Switch in PARK or HEAD, pin 5 of the Warning Chime Module is grounded. Opening the driver's door causes the Left Front Door Jamb Switch to close and the Warning Chime to sound.

Why would you think it controls the vent motor that moves the air flow to the vent/floor?

RE: Little black chime box? What else?

id like to remove mine actually. when im in my car cleaning i like to have the music on and that damn chime annoys the piss out of me.

RE: Little black chime box? What else?

haha well I don't recommend this of course .. but you can do what I did and "accidently" stick a screw driver in one of the damn holes while you're mad as hell at the thing for chirping in your ear while you're trying hard to find the tan/yellow wire for the tach reading. .. ;) That seems to have fixed my little chime problem for good.
