LOD is on Facebook!!!

Okay, so it randomly came up during Carlisle a couple times that we might want to make a page for LOD on facebook. A good many people seemed interested and during the raffle I kind of "accidentally" volunteered myself to set it up. So, here it is, our new page on Facebook!

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=133781573303651

If for any reason the link doesn't work, just search for "Lincolns of Distinction" on Facebook and it should pop-up.

I (along with some others) think that we can use Facebook as another way to stay in touch with one another, share media, and hopefully recruit some new members that wouldn't find us otherwise.

If you have a Facebook account, be sure to become a "fan" on our page, post to the wall, share some pictures, and of course invite your friends.

One last note: If this is any encouragement, while setting up our page I looked for other car clubs and found that the Lincoln Mark VII Club is on Facebook with 111 fans - I think we can blow this number out of the water!

Also, I know it was posted elsewhere, but Carlisle has a Facebook page also, so show them some support too!

Carlisle All-Ford Nationals (788 fans)

Thanks for getting this started Justin. :)

I think it is a good way to spread the word for the club. :D

Figured I could put my Facebook addiction to use. Also, now that I know there is a mobile page I am so loving the forum in my pocket!

I "liked" it but I don't see how to add as a friend, but can I suggest you keep it locked down somewhat so others can't try to commercialize users and stuff?

as the admin of The Lincoln Mark VII Club's facebook page I say, welcome... but blow us out of the water? hmmm guess I'll have to start advertising the page. :fart

We plan to keep it fairly protected and plan to add features for dues paying members as a member benefit. I don't use Facebook but I think you need an account to add as a friend?

We are looking for volunteers to help with the project. ;)

To adress privacy concerns and generally "lock down" the facebook page, I have reworked the page into a private group which will allow us to moderate membership more effectively. This will also allow us to individually manage membership requests and prevent access to information from non-members of the group.

As far as the Mark VII Club, I was just trying to "hype" a bit and think it's great you guys are on Facebook :) (will you be my "friend"? lol)

Anyways, since the page is now a private membership it will have a new URL link. The new link is below:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=133781573303651

My apologies for the confusion and whatnot. For the few people who already became "fans" now I'll ask you to become "members" instead since I deleted the old page to insure the best security options are available to us.

And like driller noted, if there are any Facebook savvy people who want to volunteer to help out, just let us know :)

Keep in mind at this stage this idea is a work-in-progress and will mature with time :)

One last note for the handful who already joined on Facebook - the only information that someone could have seen is your public facebook profile per your personal privacy settings, the same info that anyone could use google to find.

Just to comment, to view any info on facebook you need to have an account on facebook, which allows you to choose quite extensively what info you want to share with who (from virtually nothing to everything you post on facebook)

Just as an added plus, maybe we should start friending each other, maybe that will boost activity.

I think that sounds like a good idea (I just requested everyone on the group) - I was also thinking about designing a good small logo that we could use as our individual profile pictures so that we looked a bit more cohesive - and our fbook friends might get curious what our profile pics are for and check out the group.
