Before I tell this story, let me just say that it has been a long while since I have had a good race like this!!!

I barely lost to a Mercedes Benz AMG C43 this morning. :(

We were lined up next to each other at a light. We didn't both punch it off the line, but once we knew both of us were going to go, we were on it. I pulled my car back into low 1, realizing that this was going to be a tough race. Until about 60 I had a 1/2 car length on him...........his hood was even with my front door. From 0-60 I could have reached out and touched his car. I was assuming that once I shifted into low 2, I would just pull away...........wrong. I shifted into low 2 with a solid shift and then I could see his car shift. He immediately pulled 1/2 car in front on me. Now my hood was even with his front door! I stayed 1/2 car behind until about 90. We then saw a cop going the other direction. I hit the brakes first and the AMG followed. The cop didn't notice........why would an old Lincoln and an old body style Mercedes be racing at 90 MPH at 8:50 in the morning. The AMG C43 has no noticeable visual differences in the front end from a C220. According to what I found on the internet, the C43 has a 302 horsepower V8 and does 0-60 in 6.1 and the quarter in 14.6.

Btw – it is so nice to race a non-ricer! We parted our ways with hand waves, headlight flashes, and of course a hand sweep across the head for the close call with our friends in blue.

And you want to get rid of your car?

"And you want to get rid of your car?" - ;-) My old Lincoln was showing me that she doesn't have to go anywhere after holding her own against a car like the C43.

I did a little more research, Mercedes only made 1,411 C43's over 3-years!!!
