RE: Low Idle and ABS and Traction control problems.
There's an ABS test connector located behind the right headlight on 1st Gens. You'll see it when you flip up the right bulb access cover, clipped to the front of the upper rad support. It looks just like the EEC connector, and any EEC scan tool will plug in, minus the single wire connector. You can retrieve both hard and memory codes, just like you do from the EEC system.
Don't be fooled! It requires a different electronic trigger signal from the scan tool to begin the module's code retrieval sequence. Most really cheap "code catchers" can't provide it. You'll need a specific Dealership/Snap-On Tools/Fox Valley level scanner. Next, even if you could pull codes, then what? You'll need definitions and appropriate pinpoint tests.
...Ryan, I am still very curious about your reference to engine work. Most of the ABS/TC system hardware and wiring is under the hood, with some of the most important components, the HCU (hydraulic control unit), the ECU, and the solid state relay just under and inboard the battery tray. There's an awful lot of really expensive, really fragile stuff, really near to where work was done. If something was damaged and a professional diagnosis can prove this, would you have any recourse?
