Lunar Eclipse Pics?

J

OCCUPY LoD :)
So, first time an eclipse like this has happened since 1648 (or something) so I hope some of you have planned on snapping pictures!!! Unfortionally I didn't know about it until about 2 hours ago and my iPhone takes crappy pics at night. Soo...let's see some pics! :D Heard it was gonna be red too but isn't red yet an it's full for me.

I wanted to get a photo but it didn't start until midnight around here, and I had to get up early today.:(

It was overcast anyway.

It was in totality around 3:20 am here i think, i went out to look at it but it was to cold and windy to play around with cameras in the dark. The sky was crystal clear so it sucked that i did not brave the cold and wind.

It was snowing like mad here...

Guess there's not enough west coasters to get a clear view. I'm at my moms in Susanville which is at 4800 feet so I had a good view.

our sky was flawless, but i had to be up for work so i skipped out, but i randomly woke up at around 4 am and a 1/4 of the moon was still covered by our shadow. so i smoked a butt and took a few pics, i have seen 3 lunar eclipse's in my lifetime and one solar eclipse. the solor eclipse was sweet i used my welding helmet to watch it. since i have seen a lunar eclipse already it wasnt that big of a deal to me to sacrifce sleep for that!

The 1648 thing refers to the fact that there hasn't been one on the Winter Solstice since that year, and no others on that date since the BC days. Otherwise they're fairly common. I've seen quite a few, the last one was just a couple of years ago, and I didn't even know it was supposed to happen. I was driving home, looked up and the moon was orange, I said "oh a lunar eclipse", then went inside and had dinner. lol They're still cool to see. I'd love to see a total solar eclipse. There will be one that passes over the entire United States in August 2017, with the path of totality going smack dab across the middle of the country. It'll be the first total eclipse to hit the US mainland since 1979.

Are you an astronomer? Or do you just play one on TV? :D

Nothing but overcast here in the Wild and Wonderful. :(

I saw a lunar eclipse a couple years ago while driving. I had to pull over and just watch it for a while. Cool.

The coolest eclipse that I have ever seen was the solar eclipse back in the mid 90s. I was in grade school and we had an excuse for an extra recess. :D

Bill, you're in San Jose!? Why you been holding out on us? Lol! We need to get you over to Santa Cruz to meet Barry and I! :)

Kirk, how old are you? I remember at solar eclipse in like 6th or 7th grade, I remember the extra long recess too and looking through a piece of paper with a hole in it, lmao! I'm 30 BTW.

LOL, I'm 28. We actually used a rectangular piece of glass tinted to look through.

I remember that! I'm 31, I remember poking a hole in a shoebox and watching the shadow of the sun in the shoebox. Of course, I turned and looked directly at the sun, too!

I'm 41, and we did the same thing for the solar eclipse....but we had 2 pieces of paper...one with a small hole, the other without-hold one over the other and look at the eclipse.

man....41.....wow....I'm old

i was in high school during the 90's solar eclipse, i went to a vocational high so i was in shop when it happend, it just so happend i took metal fabrication for a trade so my whole shop was out in the parking lot with welding helmets on staring at it, even our shop teacher was out there it was pretty cool. and dont worry craig, i only have 6 more years before i am over the hill, i'm already having a hard time walking something is going on with my left leg it hurts non stop and my knee constantly kills. this getting old stuff blows. at my rate i wont make it to 50.
