So I got the Mark out to the track last night. Lets recap. My car desperately needs a tranny fluid change, plugs, wires, coils, and various other tune up parts. The only thing I've done is remove the air silencer and get a new wix air filter. I was also running a half a tank of Casey's 87 octane crap gas. Now on to the track times. What do you think:

60FT- 2.26
330ft- 6.45
1/8ET- 9.81
1/8MPH- 73.46
1000ET- 12.67
1000MPH- 85.76
1/4ET- 14.91
1/4MPH- 94.46

I'm glad somebody is running at the track! ;)

Respectable times for a stock Mark VIII for sure! :D

I can't wait to get it tuned up, run some good gas through it, get the imrc's working at the right rpm's, and see what happens. My first pass of the night was a 15.08 @ 93.xx. That was right after I got there, no cool down. I just pulled in, filled out my tech card, and away I went. The 14.91 pass was the same setup, but I had 2 hours to cool it down. It just shows how much heat soak will affect your times. :D

14s are excellent times for a stock mark. Now go do that needed maintenance before something breaks :p

Well that doesn't seem that far off now...

To be honest if you car needed wires/plugs etc you would be running mid to high 15s.

The quickest stock Mark pulled in at 14.6x @97 or so... you're pretty darn close to that #. Most are high high 14s low 15s @94-96

I figured it did since I only get 23 mpg. I know the wires are looking brittle and are starting to crumble in spots. Plus I heard that the second set of butterflies should open at 3200 rpms. I don't feel them open until 4300-4500 rpms. :(

Well I am not saying your maintenance shouldn't be done... all I am saying is that it is probably not going to significantly improve your performance because your Mark VIII is running great times at the track as is.

4000-4500 is the peak powerband for the mark. You wouldn't be in the 14s if your IMRCs were closed.

23mpg? Only!!?!! I averaged 15mpg in my mark... it all depends on driving conditions etc...

I assumed it would help since everyone talks about how well they respond to tune ups. :(

Oh. I know in a few other marks around here you can feel it around 3200-3500 and I've been told that too.

Devin averages 29mpg in his and we live in the same area so mine has got to improve. :D

Haha, Max, my '93 gets only 23 mpg on the highway with 4.30s!

You guys are just lucky. Cali gas gets a bit worse gas mileage... and honestly no one out here gets anywhere near highway rating... usually right around "city".

As to Devin getting 29mpg ... mmk I have driven Mark VIIIs for over 100k miles and I NEVER got that "average" in california so I am only speaking to my own experience.

Understood. Here it's a little more rural so there's not as much city driving. :D
