Mark did great on my recent road trip

I took a trip of about 1500 miles from Texas, through New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas. Turned 171,000 miles and my Mark ate it all up with no complaints, MPG was 24.9.

I was getting a check engine light previous to leaving, and pulled the codes. I got a 579 which has to do with Manifold Absolute Pressure. I did a little inspection and found that a small airline that attaches to a T on top of my manifold cracked and fell apart when I pulled on it. I had to clear out the rubber piece that it stuck into, and then I just pushed it back in. Also, on my spark plug replacement mission, I noticed that the PCV vent tube which attaches to the valve cover and air intake snorkel, was cracked up pretty bad. I replaced that with a 5/8" piece of hose from AutoZone for $1.07, versus $23 for stock one.

As I drove out, I got the ce light for the first two days. Then it stopped coming on and it hasn't come on since, so I think I was having a little leak into the intake from a point after the MAF. Once everything got sealed back up, I am good. I will soon be putting in the 4 new o2 sensors to see if I can get my mileage a little better.

Just wanted to report in. I love my car.

Who said they don't build em like they used to? I don't think any of my predessors ran a car that far with that kinda of gas milage abd comfort. Nevermind the minimal maintance.

I used to get a chech engine light every time I floored the gas. Then, I was driving my car one weekend out of four because I was working out of state. I stayed home last year for an extended time and drove my Mark a lot. The check engine light quit coming on when I floored it after driving it more often.
