Mark VIII MFS

Thought some folks might be interested in this.

I recently purchased a use 1997 Mark VIII, but, knowing it had a non functioning right turn/MFS switch issue.

Being the cheap person I am (and not having the ability to just buy a part now for instant gratification) I decided to tear into the switch and see what I could find.

After a cleaning of the switch itself (the contacts) and still no luck, I noticed that the switch appears to actually apply a resistance to the SCIL to turn on the indicator.

Quick testing revealed the resistor for the right signal was showing 4.4 mega ohms - the resistor was marked 222 (which should be 2.2k ohms) but, testing the other 222 resistor on the board showed it as 3.31k ohms.

Took the bare PCB to the car, and used a 3.38k resistor (I had it) and luck would have it - I had had a functioning right turn signal again.

Soldered in a new resistor (thankfully there was a through hole in the PCB, so it was easy enough to tack a regular resistor in its place (and it didn't get in the way)

Not to shabby for a couple hours of work (only complicated by someone prior had striped out most of the bolt holes for the steering wheel removal and it was a bit of a pain to get them properly retapped.)
