Mark VIIIs and dealerships around Vegas

So, in my searching for a Mark, I've found that the prices in Vegas are significantly lower than here in Phoenix. In comparing prices, I'm finding similar cars to be 1-2 thousand dollars cheaper in the Las Vegas area. Around here, for example, everyone wants 7-8 grand for a 96 approaching or at 100k. This frustrates the heck out of me. I'm now contemplating going up there to do some car shopping. Lucky for me, the in-laws live up there, so it can be a dual purpose trip.

Are there any reputable F/L/M dealerships up there that would be good to use for an assessment of the car's condition? Or any other recommended mechanics familiar with Mark VIII issues?

Not sure when we'll head up there, but I'd like to soon. I'd never have thought that 300 miles would make THAT much of a difference in price.

Chris is from LV, he goes by "unstoppable" on the board, you can try sending him a PM and he may be able to help you.

Well, it's looking like I'll be forced to deal with a dealership to buy one, anyway. Not that I'm particularly thrilled with it. Called my bank today and they don't do car loans older than 6 model years. Older than that, and you have to have the car all ready and then HOPE to get approved, get a decent rate, etc. Blah. So, I'm not going this weekend. Perhaps later. This is really frustrating.

I had a dream about having bought one last night. :/

When black beauty was killed, I was looking all over the country for another one. I looked in Vegas since my inlaws live there and my father-in-law works at a Ford dealership there. WOW. They wanted so much more the same car that I could find in Texas.

RE: Mark VIIIs and dealerships around Vegas

So PHX wants more than Vegas, but Texas wants less than Vegas? Criminy. Texas is simply too far for me to go and still save money, however. I've got about a 300 mile radius to work with due to time constraints and such.

I'd never have thought it'd be so darn hard to find a Mark VIII. Looks like this'll be just as bad as trying to find my 1 in 1321 Turbo RS. :(

Actually, I think it'll be worse, as I was simply desperate for any relatively complete Turbo RS, but I have criteria for a Mark VIII.

Sigh. No other car would fit my needs the way a nice VIII would. :(

You'll find that right one, though, and it'll all be worth it. :)

A ton of them? Jeeze, only a half a MK VIII is laying there? Where'd the other half go? :D

LOL @ Bill!

Chris, I'm wanting a first Gen. 96 is preferred due to the headlights (I live in a really rural area), but I'm not opposed to a darn good 95 and earlier. LSC preferred, but not necessary. I'd really, really like the 10 CD stacker. I like darker colors, or silver. Not big on the tan interiors. The white looks REALLY cool and would be great for PHX heat, and I really very much love the grey/charcoal. I just can't do the pastels on the exterior :/

Price needs to be under 8 grand and I'd prefer mileage under 70k if possible. I'm probably restricted to dealerships that can do financing, however. As mentioned above, my bank won't do a pre-approved amount kind of loan (95-96 is too old. :| ), so I'm kinda screwed on private party stuff. :(

Prices and mileage seem to be far more reasonable up there compared to here.

I'm kicking myself as I saw a 95 (I think) with 34k advertised for 4500 a few weeks ago. The car is long gone now.

Anyway, I'm open to any great deals that come up, really. I'm searching online constantly and compulsively. Everyone around me is tired of hearing, "I need a Mark VIII..."

RE: Mark VIIIs and dealerships around Vegas

I think I saw a 96 grey one.No HIDs though.I'll check on the price for you.I also saw a 97 silver with 70,000 for 7,500.Body was clean, interior was decent.

RE: Mark VIIIs and dealerships around Vegas

HIDs would be nice, but I'm sure we can tackle the conversion if it comes to it. I like grey :) I'm pretty much dead set on first gens, though. I really prefer the sleeker nose.

I appreciate any help I can get to track one of these babies down. :)
