mig welding and custom fabbing

I'm in the UF SAE club (formula 1 style car construction) and the team has a full shop. I've done a lot of practice on their MIG, and there are guys that will help me out with any of the other machines (excluding CNC and TIG). I've got about 7 hours every day that i'm doing nothing with right now. Since i've got access to all this cool stuff, my question is what can i make for my car? I'm thinking of stuff like a custom intake, caliper brackets, trunk battery box. Any suggestions? I'm eventually hoping to have a vortech in my car... so everyone who has done that can you tell me what i should start moving now?

Yeah, subframe connectors with IRS brace and differential cover support.

The ultimate? Tubular K member.

Excellent! Once we've figured out how much material is going to be leftover fro the rolling chassis construction i'll start hoarding stuff. I'm going to start looking around for pictures and specs of the subframe connectors that were being made a while ago At this point i think it would be dangerous and stupid for me to try a K member... but we shall see.

that's what i was about to say... dangerous and stupid on the k member. But you can do a front suspension brace and subframe connectors. Take a look around the net and find some pics of Johnny Langtons pieces and you'll get an idea what to do. Keep in mind you want to use square tubing for that stuff (anything loaded in bending) and round tubing for anything loaded in just compression or tension.
