Am I the only one who Hates these things? I don't know of anyone who has one that doesn't have wind noise. I bought a new seal about a year ago, over a hundred dollars, and you could have dropped a dime right through in every corner. The factory knows they are going to leak, If anyone out there with one doesn't know, there is a drip rail all the way around under it and drain tubes running down the pillers.
Mine never has worked right, I think the motor was bad as it would only go a little way and stop and you would have to wait to get it to go any more. I changed the motor today and now it runs to good. Somtimes it works just fine and the next time it stops where it wants. Once it even went all the way up, back down, all the way back, then forward about half way and stopped there.
Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket manual one that will fill that big hole if I take it out. I've had a couple cars with those and no trouble, no noise, no leaks. The one on my 84 Cougar has been there for 15 years and still doesn't leak.
I like this car better than any other I've owned but it will be my last powered roof...
I have a wire feed welder and today I was thinking about tack welding the corners so it wouldn't move when you open and close the doors and then sealing it with black silicone. I believe that would cure it.
