Msd Coil & Ignition

I installed Screamon Deamon coils on mine, along with Nology wires.

I would say they are worth the money if you have other performance stuff done, but if your car is stock except for the coils...I'd spend the money elsewhere.

You can't use the MSD controller on our cars....atleast I don't think.

on jegs it looks as if you can use the igniton module with a wire harnis adapter but not 100% sure, i was reading it off the discription, didnt know if anyone has tried it

I was thinking of changing the Coils to MSD or some other brand and geting Premeom Spark plugs. Want to see what you guys have to say first. So far i'm stock except a cone airfitler cold air induction and would like to get the LMS CHIP for my 94

Performance coils and wires are worth the money only if you are replacing bad coils or wires.

Will premium plugs over the cheaper ones make any gain? what plugs do you guys like?

Platinum will last for at least 50K miles or more, but they don't perform as well as copper plugs, even on stock engines.

However, I've been able to completely wear out copper plugs in 15K miles or less.

The price difference is negligible (?), so it will come down to how often you want to change them.

i have the MSD coils and MSD wires on my car i could feel a little diffrence but not much. if you just put the hotter coils on and dont open your plug gap you wont notice any diffrence. when i put mine on i changed my plugs too and opened the gap from the stock setting of .055 to like .065.

if you want to but a MSD "box" on thses cars you need the MSD DIS-4and the wiring to go along with it.

MSD BOX : http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD-62153&N=700+115&autoview=sku

plug and play harness (for the most part) : http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=MSD-88812&autoview=sku

i guess for a daily driver i dont need the Igniton box, ill probly get better plugs and later change to MSD coils sence mine are 160k miles

Get some Autolite 764's (copper) and get rid of any platinums you have in there. You'll notice some performance increase just doing that, haha.

I all seriousness....put your money elsewhere....MSD boxes may be cool to say you have, but not worth the money on a stock car.

Heck....get a Chip first...you'll be in LOVE!

It's been said it takes at least 10HP to be able to feel it in the 'seat of the pants' dyno. I don't think you'll ever get that kind of power from an aftermarket ignition on a stock vehicle.

That said, you will realize a gain of HP from replacing worn ignition components such as spark plugs, coils and spark plug wires. It's not really a gain as it is more of reclaiming lost HP.

Autolite 764s are a good all around choice for our engines. Virtually any replacement coil will suffice in replacing high mileage stockers on the Gen1.
