ok so here is the symptoms the car will start to stumble off idle but its not always like this some days it runs great. when steady speed it will get a slight chugging effect then the car wont rev until you put your foot more then halfway down on the gas feels like it is running out of gas then the idle gets very rough and if you get out it smells like rotten eggs out of the exhaust now i had changed the fuel pump and filtre when i first got it because it was bad gave it a full tune up i dont have any vaccume leaks i have 35 psi fuel pressure and i drove around when it started doin this with a fuel pressure gauge on my windshield and it was just fine with fuel anyone have any ideas ?

codes pulled

codes pulled

ok so i pulled codes and i have no idea what half of these mean but here they are
33 egr valve opening not detected

16 idm signal not recorded rpm too low to perform hego test

71 software reinitiolization detected or cluster control assembly circuit failed

58 vat indicated - 40 degrees circuit open

52 power steering pressure switch always open or closed

41 hego sensor indicates system lean right side

here are more

here are more

57 octane adjust service pin in use / grounded

15 eec permanent rerad only memory test failed eec battery powered keep alive memory failed

85 canister purge solenoid circuit failure

24 act sensor out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts

Wow.

Clear the codes and monitor to see which is first to return and start from there.

would a bad egr make your car run bad ?

Perhaps if it failed open. It is usually only open on coasting/deceleration.

Check for any air leaks past the MAF or at the throttle body where the intake tube seals to the throttle body.

Ok so I checked for vaccine leaks and I found one on the drivers side by the back of the engine right by the lower manifold is there any vaccume lines there or just a bad intake gasket

There are vacuum lines there. The IMRC controller, EGR actuator and purge line from the vapor canister are all in the neighborhood.

ok so i found the vacuum leak it is the lower intake gasket i can spray starting fluid right on it and the car instantly runs different would that leak cause my car to run bad and i get 14.5 mpg is that normal or would that have something to do with it

Actually, it's more than a vacuum leak. Such a leak on an EFI car is an unmetered intake leak which means the air has bypassed the MAF sensor. This "unaccounted for" air will throw off the air/fuel mixture and also cause improper load calculations causing the car to run lean.

ok cool thanks for the help i am gonna change those gaskets do you have to remove the imrcs to do the lower gaskets because i figure if i am down that low wouldnt be a bad idea to clean them really good

So I did the intake gaskets cleaned the imrcs and the car runs much better but I am still getting the code for the temp sensor and egr valve opening not detected code any ideas thanks
