My contribution to automotive history

I was fortunate enough to take part in a very special event today.

My car was selected to be included in the Jack Telnack display at 2006 Eyes On Design show. The event was held on the "beautifully
manicured grounds of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, on Lake St.Clair in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan."

It was an invitation only event to showcase "The Art of Design".

For those uninformed, Jack Telnack was chief design executive for Ford North American Automotive Operations.
Lincoln Mark VIII is one of his many creations and one of his favorites at the same time.

There were close to 200 vehicles at the show.
You could see production cars, as well as many prototypes from over the years that of course never made into production like the new Chevy Camaro, new Scion Aura and Nissan prototype vehicles as well.

We were located in the middle of the field, among Jack's other designs.
To say the least I was honored to be there. Bill and I spent the whole Saturday getting the car ready for the show. Thanx again Bill !!!

Here are some of the photos. Behind my car you can see some of the concept car from 70s, like Ford Probe IV for example.

A few more details of the show:

Jack Telnack was given the "Lifetime Design Achievement Award" this year. The organizers wanted to display some of the cars that Jack was involved with.

Jack knew that I had 2 Mark VIII's (see http://www.lincolnsclub.org/forum/d...opic_id=7751&mesg_id=7751&listing_type=search).

They called me and asked if I would display my car. I told them that unfortunately, my car wasn't really show car quality but luckily, I knew of one that was..:)

Here's some more photos from the show.

The 1964 Mustang was shown because that was the first car that Jack worked on. His first project at Ford was to design the Mustang wheel cover. His design was accepted with no changes, which is very rare for a new designer.

Allright, I gotta ask...

What's up with the fire extinquishers laying in the grass next to the cars? ::wtf::

RE: My contribution to automotive history

The rule of the Ford Museum grounds is that every show car is supposed to have one.

I guess you never know just how old these fuel lines are on the Ford Model Ts ;)

Very nice my friend, with all the work you have put into that car I am glad to see you get it into such a prestige event, and it certainly looks quite at home as well. Congradulations :) :)

RE: My contribution to automotive history

Here's some more photos from the best car show that I've ever been to.

I'll be going again next year. The tickets are a bit pricey (20 bucks) but it's a charity event benifitting the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (hence the Eyes name) so it's worth it.

Sounds great Sharon. I'm sure everyone would like this show.

By the way, I haven't given up on the Put in Bay meet this year though. I've just been very busy lately.

RE: My contribution to automotive history

Very nice Jeremi, that Mark has great stance, with something under the hood to back it up... very very nice man.

RE: My contribution to automotive history

Love the Sunbeam Tiger }(
